For the love of art

I’ve always been surrounded by creations. From the time I can remember, dad was making something. Building a garden, painting, woodworking, making things for friends. It really became obvious to me that this is how he shows his love and appreciation for those around him and for the world in general. To me, he is the epitome of the go-with-the-flow, “hippie” artist. You can feel the emotions in his pieces.
I began his Facebook page in January of 2022, with somewhat selfish intentions. I wanted to build a platform for other aspiring artists (including one of his granddaughter) to grow, learn, and feel safe in this chaotic world. My goal is to eventually support other young artists in their business endeavor, whether that be through providing information, supporting their social media, or just inspiring them to jump in and create. Dad, of course, readily joined in my dreams and started to create!
While we have only been working toward this goal for 6 months or so, I was getting frustrated with my inability to make connections with younger artists outside of our family. But then our photographer sent us this of her little boy admiring a painting. He loves animals and his mother said he was looking at this painting for 5 straight minutes! No small feat for an energetic kiddo! She also said he requested canvases so he could start painting too. THIS! This is what we want. Future artists and makers that become inspired to create for themselves. Allowing children and young adults to express themselves through creating in a safe space is my ultimate goal. Please share with us any inspiration you’ve have gained through the art community and pass on ideas, information, and support to those coming up! Building a community of support for all artists starts with us.
